Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu submitted his position to the High Court of Justice as part of the petitions seeking to dismiss National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir - and clarified that there is no legal or administrative reason for terminating his term.
The response submitted to the court stated that Ben-Gvir's appointment was lawful, and that the Prime Minister's position has not changed since he was appointed to the position.
Netanyahu emphasized that even if the procedures governing the minister's work with the police have not yet been completed, this does not justify his dismissal.
It was further claimed that Ben Gvir does not deny the principle of police independence, and that the disputes that arose regarding his manner of work do not constitute a legal basis for disqualifying him from office.
Netanyahu added that the petitions deal with a non-judicial issue, and criticized Attorney Gali Bahar-Miara's position.
According to him, her opinion is based on "exaggerating the events" and mentioning various cases, without being able to point to a connection between them and a legal reason that justifies the minister's dismissal.
