After a delay caused by security tensions: With an investment of millions of shekels, the Ashkelon Municipality began a few months ago to carry out extensive renovations on the separate beach, which is used during the bathing season by tens of thousands of bathers from the city and beyond.
The renovation, which was supposed to be completed ahead of schedule, was postponed due to unprecedented security tensions and the aftermath of the war. As a result, the work slipped into the bathing season, but despite this, every effort was made to complete the work without disrupting residents' bathing times.
With the completion of the first part of the extensive renovation, you can now enjoy a series of significant upgrades: new shading facilities, modern play areas for children, the installation of luxurious hammocks along the beach, a kosher and elegant partition, and a new look for all the fences and the lifeguard's awning, which have been painted and thoroughly repaired.
Another important piece of consumer news for the bathing public is the publication of a new tender for the placement of a 'food truck' - a mobile food cart - on the separate beach.
The food truck is expected to make all the products relevant to summer and the sea accessible to bathers, with the main emphasis on controlled and fair prices. This step is intended to ease the families' budgets and allow everyone to enjoy a perfect and affordable entertainment experience.
In the next phase of the renovation, at the end of the bathing season, the changing rooms will be replaced with new ones, including a comprehensive upgrade of the plumbing system, and the accessibility that was damaged during the previous bathing season will be rebuilt.
Ashkelon Mayor Tomer Glam ordered the renovation of the separate beach as part of the policy he is leading in the municipality to provide all residents with the best service and the best bathing experience in Israel.
City Council members Oshri Fadlon, the supervisor of Haredi youth, and Avshalom Yaakovi, along with the mayor's advisor Eliyahu Barda, closely monitored the renovation in close cooperation with the relevant departments and committees in the municipality and with the Tahara organizations, while truly listening to the needs of the residents and adapting the process for the best result.
