After he confessed and pointed out to police investigators where the knife was hidden: About two weeks after the arrest of a 16-year-old Palestinian terrorist, a resident of the village of Nahalin, an indictment was filed against him last night (Monday) by the Military Prosecution, for serious offenses of attempting to carry out an attack in the Neve Daniel settlement in Gush Etzion.
According to the findings of the police investigation and the facts of the indictment, in the afternoon hours of July 11, while he was at home, the defendant made a decision to go to a Jewish settlement and carry out a stabbing attack.
Immediately afterwards, he informed his mother that he intended to join the math tutoring program in the village, said goodbye to her, and kissed her hand.
Before leaving the house, he took with him a knife that he found in the garden of the house and put it in a bag that he carried on his back.
The defendant left his home armed with a knife, took 20 shekels with him, and put his cell phone in 'airplane mode' so that his family would not be able to locate him.
The defendant did all of this in order to stab a person or soldier and cause their death.
According to his testimony and the reconstruction of his walking route before investigators at the Etzion station, before leaving his residential area, the defendant used some of the money he was carrying to purchase a box of cigarettes and a lighter. He then headed toward the settlement of Neve Daniel through the mountains and agricultural lands and walked for long hours, until dark.
After approaching the village gate, he realized that he might get into trouble, decided to move away from the village fence and walked towards a nearby iron bench - where he sat down.
As his fatigue and thirst increased, the defendant 'recalculated his route' and only then decided to back down from the act, took the knife out of his bag and hid it under the bench.
Afterwards, he headed towards the settlement of Neve Daniel in order to search for water to quench his thirst, when he met a local resident who detained the defendant along with a military force, on suspicion of entering a prohibited area, and he was transferred for police questioning.
At the conclusion of the investigation, after his detention was extended from time to time and an evidentiary foundation for his actions was formed, an indictment was filed against him by the Military Prosecution for the offenses of preparing to intentionally cause death, possession of a knife, and violation of an order regarding the closure of an area.
