Last night (Monday), 12 Torah scrolls were stolen from the Jewish community center in the city of Lavoisier-Père, France.

The theft was discovered this morning during a Bar Mitzvah ceremony held at the synagogue, when the Ark of the Covenant was opened and, to the amazement of the worshippers, it turned out to be empty.

According to the initial findings collected, two masked suspects broke into the location through the roof of the building, and then quickly stole the Torah scrolls.

Saboteurs who were called to the scene completed an inspection of the synagogue and ruled out the presence of explosives at the scene.

The local police are collecting evidence at the scene, collecting statements from witnesses, and continuing to examine security cameras.

A vehicle suspected of being related to the incident was also located.

According to the assessment, the suspects acted in a planned and focused manner, which raises the possibility that they conducted a preliminary tour of the location and learned in advance the ways to access it.
