Adam Kot woke up yesterday (Wednesday) in his bed at his home in the city of Beit Shean, after feeling a sharp pain in his hand - and noticing two bite marks accompanied by blood.
Since he suspected that he had been bitten by a venomous snake, he called the rescue forces.
In a conversation with Channel 12, he said: "I felt as if something had stabbed me. I looked at my hand and saw two marks close to each other, with blood. I lifted the blanket and found nothing, but I realized that something had bitten me.".
He said he waited for medical teams outside the house for fear of staying inside.
The next day, the apartment owner called a snake catcher, who located the snake hiding inside the bed where Cot was sleeping.
""Only then did I realize that this was really what bit me." He added that he did not know how the snake entered the house, but estimated that it may have entered through a door or window that had been left open.
Kot was taken to HaEmek Hospital in moderate condition, where he received anti-venom treatment, which had already begun during the evacuation by ambulance. He said the doctors said it was a dangerous case.
Despite his improvement, Cote described the difficult feelings following the incident. "I'm traumatized. The bed is the place that should be the safest, and suddenly there's a snake in it. Now I'm afraid to go to sleep.".
He called on the public to learn from the incident, be vigilant, clean the area around homes, and reduce hiding places for snakes and scorpions.
