A reserve soldier today (Thursday) published a video in support of Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, filmed against the backdrop of the Gaza Strip - while wearing uniform.
In the video, the fighter said: "We are here in the field, preparing the area for settlement - Eli Sinai, Dugit. For the reservists, for security, for settlement. Yes, Smotrich.".
Following the publication of the video, an IDF spokesman announced that the soldier would be subject to disciplinary action.
The IDF emphasized that this was conduct that was contrary to army orders.
The IDF spokesman's statement said: "The soldier's behavior is in complete contradiction to IDF orders. According to the orders, political expression by regular and reserve soldiers is prohibited, especially while in uniform. The incident is being handled and the reserve soldier will be tried as soon as possible.".
According to a report by Amit Segal, the fighter was removed from reserve duty within a few hours.
