A 13-year-old boy from Safed was brought last night (Thursday) by his family to the city's Ziv Medical Center in serious condition, after developing an allergic reaction to milk after eating popsicles that contained milk residue, without his knowledge.
On the way to the hospital, his condition deteriorated to the point of becoming life-threatening, with symptoms of shortness of breath and a rash all over his body.
Upon arrival, he was urgently admitted to the pediatric emergency room, and after his condition was stabilized and out of danger, he was transferred to the pediatric intensive care unit for observation.
His condition is described as mild and stable.
Dr. Diana Faur Kassem, director of the pediatric emergency room in Bezio: "Rapid arrival at the emergency room is of the utmost importance in treating and saving lives in the event of exposure to allergenic foods. In the current case, the rapid identification and intervention in the emergency room, by doctors Dr. Rim Ali and Dr. Alaa Ganaim, in combination with the pediatric emergency room nursing team, saved the child's life.".
