After US President Donald Trump threatened that the US military might attack energy infrastructure in Iran next week, Tehran is not left indifferent.
The spokesman for the Khatem al-Anbiya Command of the Iranian Armed Forces stated: "Under no circumstances and in no way will we allow the United States, as a foreign country that is not part of the region, to interfere in the Strait of Hormuz. This is Iran's red line.".
He later threatened that if the US attacks Iranian infrastructure, "all infrastructure in the region that still remains intact will be completely destroyed by Iran's powerful forces, so that no trace of them will remain.".
He added: "The foolish enemy should know that what Iran's security forces are doing is not an equal blow, but a supreme blow - more severe, widespread and horrific than anything that has happened in the past.".
According to a report in the Reuters news agency, Iran also ordered the Houthis to close the Bab al-Mandab Strait - if the US attacks energy infrastructure.
A source close to the Houthis told Reuters that the organization had completed preparations to attack ships by deploying missiles and drones in the Bab al-Mandab Strait area.
It was also reported that representatives of the Revolutionary Guards who are already in Yemen will be the ones who will make the decision when to close the strait.
