Tragedy in the Mea Shearim neighborhood in Jerusalem: A 4 and a half year old girl, from a Breslav Hasidic family, was critically injured by a vehicle on Shmuel Salant Street this afternoon (Wednesday).
Rescue forces called to the scene provided her with initial medical treatment at the scene and evacuated her to the hospital, while performing CPR, but to the family's dismay, the doctors had no choice but to declare her dead.
Hadassah Mount Scopus reported: A girl who was hit by a car in Jerusalem was taken to the emergency room in critical condition and undergoing CPR. CPR continued at the hospital, but unfortunately the emergency medical team was forced to declare her dead.
Dr. Aryeh Yaffe, a volunteer physician at the United Hatzalah, and paramedics Yechiel Stern and Elimelech Phillips, who arrived first at the scene, said: "We were told at the scene that she had been hit by a vehicle. We performed CPR on her and then she was evacuated to Hadassah Hospital on Mount Scopus, where her condition is described as critical.".
ZAKA reported: ZAKA volunteers in the Jerusalem District are working at the scene of the accident, collecting the findings and honoring the deceased, while at the same time accompanying family members to the hospital and assisting with whatever is needed.
Benzi Oering, commander of the Jerusalem District ZAKA, and Zvi Yorowitz, a minivan driver at the Jerusalem District ZAKA, who are responding to the scene, said:
""Upon receiving the report, ZAKA volunteers were called to the scene of the accident. After the girl was pronounced dead at the hospital, the volunteers worked at the scene to collect all the findings in honor of the deceased, while at the same time accompanying the family members to the hospital and assisting in coordinating with all parties until she was brought for burial.""
