Amit Segal, Channel 12's senior political commentator, addressed today (Wednesday) the storm that developed around the comments of Shin Bet chief David Zini, according to which he agreed to take on the position "because of his ability to be loyal to the elected echelon.".

Segal: "These things only cause a stir among ignorant, evil people, or a combination of both. I quote from the Shin Bet law: 'The service is given despite the government' - not despite the Attorney General, Gil Limon, or the constitutional arrangement. The law also states that 'the Prime Minister is in charge of the service on behalf of the government' - not the Deputy Legal Advisor, nor disappearing fundamental principles.".

According to him, "The myth that is widespread in our regions of 'being loyal to the kingdom and not to the king' is not really being loyal to the kingdom - but to the Attorney General. It's not really a problem with loyalty to the king - but to the specific king who is Benjamin Netanyahu. These are weak legal constructions in the name of which they tried to prevent David Zini from becoming head of the Shin Bet and Roman Gofman from becoming head of the Mossad.".

Segal emphasizes: "Zini did not speak about an event in which the Prime Minister expects him to arrest Yair Golan under administrative detention, but about issues of war and peace. Only the deep confusion within which officials in the State of Israel rule and are glorified to the rank of 'supreme saints who are the kingdom' led former Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi to tell then-Prime Minister Bennett: 'If you want to eliminate Sinwar, you will have to convince me.' Excuse me, sir? You are a little confused. You are the Chief of Staff, salute and carry out the order.".

He added and claimed that there is an attempt to delegitimize fornication.

""You have to be evil to take Zini's sentence out of context. He said 'any opinion' - even if it's a different government - and didn't talk about Benjamin Netanyahu. By the way, how do I know that it's not a matter of principle? Because the work plan of Yoram Cohen, Yair Golan and others is to blow the heads off of David Zini and Roman Gofman - on the day they are elected to their positions. According to them, the elected echelon will decide something and force it on the head of the Shin Bet. From this I understand that they are saying - our people can stay and the other side can't.".
