Violent clashes developed this evening (Wednesday) between ultra-Orthodox demonstrators who came to protest against the arrest of a deserter in front of Military Prison 10 in Beit Lid and soldiers guarding the base.
The protesters - men, women and children - arrived at the scene in three buses and got off in an orderly manner, passed through the prison gates, which were open at the time, and entered the facility grounds.
Immediately afterwards, they began to confront the soldiers.
The soldiers managed to remove the male protesters from the scene, but the women remained in the area.
The children were chained to each other outside the prison.
An IDF spokesman said in response: Earlier this evening, an illegal demonstration began outside the Beit Lid camp base - Prison 10. The protesters acted violently and entered the military area.
Military police forces removed all protesters from the base area. The event ended.
