After the approval of the 'Basic Law on Torah Study' in first reading: The Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee continues today (Thursday) to discuss the law initiated by Degel chairman, MK Moshe Gafni.

According to a report by Dafna Liel from Ma'arutz 12, the opposition is angry about MK Zvi Sukkot of Religious Zionism - "who did not serve in the IDF." The discussion is being moderated by the committee chairman, MK Boaz Bismuth.

MK Elazar Stern of the collapsing Yesh Atid party shouted at him: "Don't you understand what we're talking about here? About human life. You know.".

Sukkot responded: "Without manipulation, I care no less than you.".

Stern replied contemptuously: "You could care less" - and Sukot replied angrily: "I buried friends. Shame on you, you impudent. I was at my friends' funerals one after the other.".

MK Yael Ben Moshe complained: ”I came here even though my son was injured in the army, has been at Rambam for 4 weeks, and Bismuth decided not to come on Thursday.“.

The office of the chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee responded: "We wish a full and speedy recovery to the son of MK Yael Ben Moshe.

""Knesset Member Zvi Sukkot is a member of the committee, and is therefore entitled to serve as a substitute and lead the discussion, as is customary in all Knesset committees.".

""The committee's attorney also clarified, in response to the opposition's claims, that there is no obstacle to this and the discussion can take place as usual.".

""Committee Chairman Boaz Bismuth is kept informed of what is happening in the discussion at all times. The opposition's attempts to obstruct and delay will not stop the committee's work.""
