Unusual event: A man armed with a knife and a baseball bat entered the Chabad World Center-770 in the Crown Heights neighborhood last night (Thursday).
According to reports, the man - an African-American - was quickly stopped after bystanders confronted him and pushed him out.
Police forces were then called to the scene, who took control of the incident and arrested the suspect.
No injuries were reported.
According to the testimonies, the suspect entered the main building wearing a kippah.
An initial investigation ruled out a nationalist incident and revealed that the man was mentally unstable and known to the police. The man had visited '770' several times, until the management of the place filed an affidavit with the police stating that he was not allowed inside.
