About a week ago, an Arab resident of the Old City of Jerusalem attempted to attack a Jewish passerby with an axe.
The Arab was involved in a fight with Jews shortly before the attempted attack - and the passerby, who was not involved in the fight at all, escaped with his life.
Attorney Haim Bleicher of Mhonenu contacted the police demanding that the attacker be arrested.
In a letter sent by Attorney Bleicher from his home, he describes the incident: "My client left his home at 30 Chaldea Street in the Old City when he heard shouting and chaos due to a fight that was taking place there. Within a few seconds, to his horror, he saw an Arab Jew running towards him in a frenzy, holding an axe in his hand and trying to get it in order to physically harm him. Fortunately, my client managed to flee the scene and escape physical harm.".
Attorney Bleicher says: "This is a serious incident of an attempt to harm a person with an axe. The Jew reports that the suspect in the attack is roaming freely on the street, and for an unclear reason is not being held in custody. The axe itself is found at the entrance to the house.
""It is puzzling how a person who committed such a dangerous act is walking around freely and is given a second chance to harm the victim or other people. He should be arrested immediately and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.".
