High Court judges issued an interim order today (Wednesday) freezing the appointment of Attorney Michael Rabillo as State Comptroller, pending a ruling on the petitions filed against his appointment.
The court's decision stated that the order was issued "in consideration of the timeline required in light of the end of the term of office of the incumbent State Comptroller, and in order to provide sufficient time for a ruling in the proceedings.".
The judges clarified that the purpose of the order is to preserve the status quo until the petitions are decided, and that the ruling will be issued as soon as possible.
The State Comptroller is scheduled to end his duties on Sunday.
The High Court of Justice has already made it clear during the hearings that there are problems with the election process, after some Knesset members recorded their votes in a process that was intended to be secret. On the other hand, Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana announced that he would not allow a repeat election for the position.
Therefore, for the time being, until the verdict, the judges are freezing Rabillo's entry into office.
