According to a report by Ari Kalman on i24, "Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office informed Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri that without condemnation of the inflammatory statements made against IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir during yesterday's rally in Bnei Brak, the discussion on the amnesty law for deserters will be canceled.".
According to the report, "Following this, members of the Council of Torah Sages are currently signing a letter condemning Rabbi Yazdi's statements against the Chief of Staff.".
In response, Shas issued a statement to the media: "Fake reporter Ari Kalman continues this morning to spread despicable lies against Shas, without asking for a response, and not for the first time.
""So far we have chosen to remain silent, but when he dares to insult the honor of our rabbis, members of the Council of Torah Sages, and claim that they are being forced to sign letters - we are obligated to protest.".
Shas added: "It is a shame and disgrace that someone who presents himself as an ultra-Orthodox journalist behaves this way, while he is busy from morning to night sowing division within the ultra-Orthodox public and attempting to thwart the moves and laws intended to save the world of Torah.".
