Dramatic documentation: A Palestinian resident of Judea and Samaria, suspected of a series of cell phone thefts, was arrested last night (Thursday) after a dramatic chase throughout the Azrieli Mall in Tel Aviv and down the escalators, as part of a joint operation by the Shechem and Tel Aviv police districts.
Following repeated incidents of theft of devices from people hanging out in malls, beaches, and from soldiers while traveling on public transportation after an operational activity, cynically exploiting their exhaustion during the trip, and thanks to intelligence gathering by the Hebron station regarding the main suspect - a Palestinian resident of Dahriyah in his 30s, an operation was conducted yesterday in which, as stated, police forces from the Tel Aviv District and the Sha'ar District took part.
During the operation, a report was received regarding the theft of several mobile phones from the Azrieli Mall. Rapid investigative actions, including examining security camera footage, in order to identify the suspect who committed the theft, led to his location in the mall, where detectives from the Hebron Station operated undercover.
While being followed, the suspect began a wild escape through the crowd of people hanging out at the mall, via the escalators - and all this while the detectives, led by their commander, rushed after him, until the intelligence and undercover detective officer jumped on the fleeing suspect and arrested him in front of passersby.
The arrested Palestinian suspect was transferred to the Tel Aviv Police District for further questioning due to suspicions against him, including his illegal entry into Israel.
