Shin Bet head David Zini ordered the dismantling of a memorial post for those who fell in service on October 7th, which was erected at the entrance to the service headquarters in Tel Aviv.
Zini's instruction was published today (Wednesday) for the first time in Haaretz.
The newspaper claimed that the reason for dismantling the position was that "we don't have to see the failure right in front of our eyes every day" and that "the display reflects defeatism.".
The Shin Bet said in response: "The October 7th blunder is one of the greatest and most painful blunders the State of Israel has ever known. As part of this perception, in the view of the head of the service, the presentation of some of the fallen minimizes the blunder and reflects only part of the terrible disaster that befell us.".
