The Rishon LeZion and President of the Great Rabbinical Court, Rabbi David Yosef, launched a scathing attack on the Supreme Court, in a speech he delivered last night at an evening honoring graduates of the law, rabbinical and rabbinical advocacy programs.
Rabbi Yosef attacked the reason for the reasonableness argument used by the court to criticize state authorities: "The judges' argument for the reason for the reasonableness argument is Korach's argument against Moses.".
He referred to the legal pressures to allow women to be ordained as rabbis, and said cynically that women who request a "Yora Yora" certificate will be able to receive it from the High Court of Justice and not from the rabbinate.
The Chief Rabbi pledged that "on his watch" no woman would receive a "Yora Yora" certificate, and that the court's attempt to admit women to the rabbinate would fail.
During the event, Rabbi Zebadiah HaCohen, Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv, said: "Correct ruling requires a combination of knowledge of Torah, hard work, responsibility, understanding of reality, balance of mind, and great caution in respecting the rights of the litigants.".
