Anti-Semitism on the New York subway: A 23-year-old Jewish passenger was attacked with severe violence inside a passenger car.
According to a report today (Thursday) in the New York Post, quoted in Kan News, a woman named Diana Smith incited against Jews on the subway - and even attacked a Jewish passenger.
Another Jewish passenger said she was boarding the subway when the attacker "warned" the passengers about "the danger posed by Jews.".
Suddenly Smith turned to her and said: "The Jews eat children.".
Smith is charged with a series of offenses, including assault, obstruction of breathing as a hate crime, and aggravated harassment.
The victim of the attack, a 23-year-old Haredi woman, testified about the moments of terror that she felt "like a rag doll" and that she could not protect herself: "There should have been a human barrier around me, but no one intervened until it was too late.".
The Haredi woman who was attacked said that she heard the attacker talking to a couple of passengers about "the dangers of theft of capital by Jews" and said that "you can always see a reflection of a Jew.".
The young Jewish woman described: "She turned in my direction, it seemed very focused. She stared at me, and then smiled a smile that I will never forget. I decided at that moment that I didn't want to show that I was afraid, so I stared back at her and said to her - 'Do you see my reflection?' And she answered me, 'Yes, and I can also smell the babies you ate.'".
The attacker repeated the anti-Semitic statement, "Jews eat babies.".
The victim was able to record part of the exchange on her cell phone.
The confrontation turned violent when Smith placed one of her hands on the victim's throat. A couple of bystanders tried to calm things down, and Smith shouted at them: "It's okay for Jews to eat children, but I can't strangle her.".
Seconds later, according to the young woman's testimony, her mobile device was dropped to the floor and Smith, still holding her by the throat, kicked her and pushed her to the floor, while tearing a strand of hair from her head.
As soon as the train arrived at the station, the young woman rushed out and called the police - who arrested Smith.
The victim of the attack told the New York Post that despite the concern of other subway passengers and questions about her well-being, she was not okay. The passenger described the attacker, Smith, as "pure evil" who was lucid enough to know she was Jewish and attack her.
