In recent weeks, an undercover investigation has been conducted at the Jerusalem Border Police, against an organized network for smuggling illegal residents into the territory of the State of Israel.
The investigation revealed that the network operated systematically through drivers and brokers, with the aim of transporting illegal residents deep into the country.
During the investigation, advanced intelligence operations, surveillance, and evidence collection were carried out using various means, which matured into operational activity.
On May 4, the tactical brigade's undercover agents and detectives, in cooperation with the drone unit and fighters from the Jerusalem Border Police, worked to arrest the suspects while capturing them in the act of committing the crime.
During the operation, the forces raided a minibus traveling on Highway 1 from Jerusalem to the center of the country, containing 22 illegal residents, along with another suspect - an Israeli resident of Kafr Aqeb in his 40s, suspected of transporting them.
At the same time, the forces operated at two additional locations in the city of Jerusalem, where two Israeli suspects, a father and son in their 50s and 20s, residents of Ras al-Amud, were arrested on suspicion of running a network for smuggling illegal residents.
All suspects were transferred for further investigation to the Jerusalem Border Police Headquarters.
With the completion of the investigation and the formation of the evidentiary infrastructure, indictments were filed last week through Yehuda-S.I. lawsuits. Indictments were filed against the father and son for running a network for smuggling illegal residents and conspiracy to commit a crime.
The suspect who transported the illegal residents was indicted for transporting illegal residents under aggravated circumstances. In addition, an indictment was also filed against one of the illegal residents who were arrested as part of the operation.
