The Police Investigations Department filed an indictment today (Monday) against a traffic police officer for forging and compiling false traffic reports.
According to the indictment, which was filed with the Beer Sheva Magistrate's Court by Attorney Keren Lavie, during the months of April to June 2023, the defendant - a traffic police officer in Eilat - made false traffic reports on numerous occasions, as part of the fulfillment of her duties on the roads of the city of Eilat and on the routes leading to it.
The indictment lists 20 cases of false registrations, in some of which the defendant forged the drivers' signatures on the reports, and in some cases she even recorded false responses on their behalf or stated that they refused to sign - even though in reality no meeting with the drivers took place.
Also, in some cases, the defendant informed the drivers that they would not be issued a traffic ticket and released them on their way, but later those drivers received traffic tickets in the mail.
The indictment accuses the policewoman of tampering with evidence, forgery by a public servant, abuse of office, and breach of trust.
