The Tax Authority, through the Haifa and Northern Investigations Tax Assessor, detained Attorney Jalal Shelby of Manof HaGalil for questioning this morning (Thursday), on suspicion that he helped his clients evade payment of purchase tax in the amount of approximately 400,000 shekels and capital gains tax in the amount of at least 1.8 million shekels.

According to suspicion, the lawyer submitted an online declaration to the Nazareth Real Estate Taxation Office, according to which his clients sold an entire 5-story building, including 4 apartments, worth 6 million shekels.

The investigation reveals a suspicion that this is a building with 8 apartments, not 4, and that the lawyer submitted the online declaration on behalf of the sellers and buyers, knowing that it included false data regarding the number of apartments and the nature of the property.

The suspect lawyer's clients were questioned and released under restrictive conditions about 3 months ago.

Now, as mentioned, their lawyer is also being investigated. He is suspected of acting fraudulently, cunningly, and with the intent of knowingly and intentionally helping his clients evade paying taxes legally.

The suspect was brought before the Haifa Magistrate's Court this morning and released under restrictive conditions.
