The chairman of the Central Elections Committee, Judge Noam Solberg, issued a temporary injunction today (Friday) against the "Pure Shekel" association, which is affiliated with Satmar Hasidism.

The order prohibits the association from giving voters money to influence them not to vote, offering them this, or promising them this.

The committee chairman's decision comes following a lightning process that began when a petition was filed alleging that the association had begun providing "support" worth $200 to those who declare that they will not vote in the elections.

The petition claimed that this violated the prohibition on bribery to abstain from voting, and demanded the immediate intervention of the court and the chairman of the committee to stop the distribution of the grants.

After reviewing the materials submitted to him, the Chairman of the Central Elections Committee found that, according to the evidence attached to the petition, there was a serious concern about a violation of the law that goes to the root of the election laws.

Given the seriousness of the findings and the immediate harm to moral integrity and the proper democratic process, the chairman of the committee acted without delay to thwart the continued distribution of funds.

The order will remain in effect until further notice, while law enforcement will continue to examine the association's financial activities and suspicions of criminal offenses.

The chairman of the Central Elections Committee, Judge Noam Solberg, issued a temporary order today (Friday) to the "Pure Shekel" association, which is affiliated with Satmar Hasidism.
