Shlomi Emunim chairman, MK Meir Porush, in an interview he gave to the newspaper 'HaMevasser', refers to the public discourse about the representatives on the United Torah Judaism list, and surprises with a statement that he personally wants to stand the test of the public.

""Fifty years ago, internal elections were held in Agudat Israel, and those historic results accompany us to this day. I am in favor of doing it again," he said in an interview with Eliezer Shulman and Meir Berger.

""I think holding primaries within Agudat Israel is the best and most genuine way to reconnect the public to the field. As soon as the public is given the power to decide who will represent them, it immediately resolves the entire sense of disconnection. By the way, the concept of primaries has officially entered the new Agudat Israel bylaws.".

He added: "I'm not just talking about this in theory, but we at Shlomi Emunim are doing it in practice. Before the local elections over the years, we held primaries in a number of cities. In the last local elections, we did it in Jerusalem, and this move proved itself in a big way when it brought a young and energetic representative like Rabbi Yitzhak Meir Brim to the city council.

""We have done this in the past in a number of other cities, and it simply works and proves itself. When you let the area choose, the area comes to life, receives the best representatives, and the representative feels fully committed to the public that elected him. What is successful in our local authorities should also happen in the National Israel Association.".

""We need simple primaries so that the representative knows that anyone can come to him, knock on the table and tell him: 'I chose you, and you must help me.' A public representative must not walk around with the feeling that he received the position from heaven or because of a power grab.".

""By the way," he adds and reveals: "I demand this first of all from myself. Right now, before submitting the current lists to the Knesset, I asked to regain the trust of the representatives of all our communities. I didn't want to continue on automatic, but I did it to strengthen in myself the sense of daily commitment to the public that sent me.".

In an interview with the newspaper 'HaMevasser', the chairman of 'Shlomi Emunim' reveals that before submitting the lists to the Knesset, he regained the trust of the community representatives • "I didn't want to continue on automatic, I did it to strengthen in myself the sense of daily commitment to the public that sent me" • "A public representative must not walk around with the feeling that he received the position from heaven or because of a power grab"'
[1
2149,3308,1202
post-1064272","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-1","tag-2149","tag-3308","tag-1202
