2.

Before the start of the school year, the kindergarten chain management sent an open letter to parents, in which it described the situation:

""After a challenging evaluation period, we would like to share with you -

 1. The shortage of educational buildings and the good news on the way: The respected Torah community in Kiryat Ata is intimately familiar with the shortage of buildings for kindergartens. A kindergarten is ideally placed in a proper and respectable building built for this purpose, with an inviting and spacious courtyard. To our delight, we were recently informed by the energetic and dedicated mayor, Yaakov Peretz, that they are progressing in the planning and construction stages of a respectable kindergarten cluster for the benefit of the kindergarten network and the children of the community. For this, we thank Rabbi Elkana Wiesenstern, who works day and night for the educational institutions in the city.

But for now, the situation is not ideal and we are forced to operate the kindergartens in rented buildings, with the necessary adjustments for the benefit of operating a kindergarten.

2. Community Development and Kindergarten Expansion In the past year, the Haredi community in the city has grown and developed, God willing, and accordingly, the number of kindergarten enrollments has increased. In order to provide a solution for all the children in the community, it has become necessary to open two more kindergartens.

Although there are no permanent buildings, the network's management worked to rent suitable buildings and prepare them in order to provide the children with the best educational environment, as we have done throughout the years.

 3. Kindergarten placements and mutual guarantee - After appropriate preparation, locating buildings and assigning children to kindergartens, a few days before the start of the school year, the operator of a kindergarten in the city suddenly announced that due to constraints he was closing the kindergarten, and a group of girls from the community were left without a solution and without an educational framework for the coming year.

Following urgent appeals from the Ministry of Education, the Kiryat Ata municipality administration and public representatives, and out of a deep sense of responsibility and mutual commitment, we could not stand by and watch girls stay at home without a kindergarten. Therefore, the kindergarten network mobilized to absorb these girls into our ranks. This absorption led to a higher number of children than originally planned in some kindergartens.

We are aware that the situation is not ideal, but the alternative would have been to leave a group of girls without an educational framework.

There is no doubt that any of us who would have found ourselves in such a situation as a parent would want a solution to be found for our children. And indeed, we acted responsibly to ensure that every girl and boy in the city would have a place in kindergarten.

.4. Our commitment to guidance, support and pedagogical quality - We are committed to providing your children with the best environment and will continue to strive to improve the physical conditions in the kindergartens to the best of our ability.

Increased density. Photo: Herring

Although our goal is to have full kindergartens, the overcrowding this year is very high, which is not ideal and even makes it difficult for the kindergarten staff. The kindergarten network management is aware of the challenge of the kindergarten staff, appreciates and values their dedication, and for our part, we will try to stand by their side and assist as much as we can.

On this occasion, we also call on you, dear parents, to strengthen the kindergarten teachers and assistants and praise them with a kind word and even more. In the end, they are not to blame for the situation, on the contrary, they are the ones who dedicate themselves to facilitating and functioning in the given situation.

It is important for us to emphasize that safety and standards are a fundamental condition for us: all buildings have been inspected, approved, and meet all safety and licensing requirements as required by law.

And it is always advisable to strive for more.

We thank you for your trust, partnership and understanding.

"Happy New Year and good writing and signing, management and supervision.".

3.

As described in the letter, the mayor harnessed the Ministry of Education and initiated the construction of impressive classrooms, only their construction will take time and will not provide a solution for the current year.

But the parents, for their part, are furious, having difficulty understanding the constraints, and some of them are trying to turn the story into a saga of secular-ultra-Orthodox relations: Why do seculars have decent genes and "we, the ultra-Orthodox, don't"?

There are enough problems with the issue of secular-ultra-Orthodox relations, even without taking into account the story of Kiryat Ata, a peaceful city where relations between the sectors are excellent.

There is a problem, it will be solved with time, a little patience never hurt anyone.

![""]("https://shtetel.co.il/wp-content/uploads/WhatsApp-Image-2026-08-31-at-20.42.33-1-1024x768.jpeg")
