The chairman of the left-wing Yashar party, Gadi Eisenkot, ruled out the possibility that Brigadier General (res.) Ofer Winter, chairman of the Amach Yisrael party, would serve as defense minister in a government he heads.

Winter responded sharply and made it clear that he had no intention of joining a government headed by Eisenkot in any case.

Eisenkot told Channel 13, when asked about this: "No. I think Ofer Winter is a good field commander. He was not in the army's strategic command, and he was not in senior positions.".

Channel 12 political commentator Amit Segal quipped: "Unlike Lt. Col. Bennett and Lt. Col. Lieberman?""

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar wondered: "If a reserve brigadier general is not qualified to be defense minister - how is a person who has never served as an executive minister in any government ministry qualified to be prime minister?""

Winter, for his part, responded that the gap between him and Eisenkot concerns fundamental security concepts: "A strategic conceptual abyss exists between us. I have already said that I have no intention of being part of your government and I will do everything to prevent it from being established.".

Winter added that he has been opposed for years to the security concept that Eisenkot led: "I have been opposed for years to the security concept that you led. I opposed containment, I opposed arrangement, and I also saw the discretion of the Strategic Command that you are talking about in the appointments that you led - with Yair Golan, with Aharon Haliva and with Herzi Halevi.".

Winter continued: "So if this is what you're talking about for Strategic Command, I'm proud I wasn't part of it.".

According to him, his party seeks to present a different security concept than the one he attributes to Eisenkot: "In our shift, this will not happen. New people will bring new concepts, quick decisions, voluntary immigration, and IDF soldiers will always, but always, be ahead of enemy citizens. We, your people Israel, will change for the better.".

"לא היה בתפקידים בכירים" • גדי איזנקוט העומד בראש מפלגת 'ישר', פסל את עופר וינטר כמועמד לתפקיד שר הביטחון בממשלתו • עמית סגל עקץ: בניגוד לרא״ל בנט ואלוף במיל׳ ליברמן? • וינטר הגיב בסרטון: "אני גאה שלא הייתי חלק" בשדרת הפיקוד שהובילה את הקונספציה
[1

post-1062675","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-1
