MK Moshe Gafni was asked this evening (Tuesday) at an event he attended whether he intends to recommend Gadi Eisenkot or Benjamin Netanyahu for prime minister - and hinted that the possibility of recommending the chairman of the left-wing Yashar party is on the table.

""I know what I'm going to recommend, and I know I'm not allowed to say it," he said.

Here is the transcript of the conversation:

Question: Would you recommend that Torah scholars go with Eisenkot in light of the experience with Netanyahu?

Gafni: So the answer is this. I know what I'm going to recommend, and I know I'm not allowed to say it (someone says: "The door is closed" - Gafni: The door is closed on other things).

Menachem Shapira's voice is heard saying: 'Don't teach him to use the excuses he taught us.'.

Gafni: Big question. Why a big question? Because the public on Netanyahu's side, I'm not talking about the man but about the public that's there, is a public that's close to us. A traditional public, it's not the public that's on the other side. On the other side, there are people that we don't have anything to do with, that's something that's clear, that if we need to get closer to a certain public, we get closer to people who are on the right or in the area of the right.

""It's just that the right has proven to you that there are things there in which it is worse than the left. Towards us. But the public that is there is clearly a public that is closer to us. On the other hand, we have come to the conclusion in what happened in this term that we will not be able to do things with them, as far as our children, as far as our families, as far as our communities are concerned. There is a reality that it will be easier for us there.

""The question is a critical question, it's not a question of what I decide. It's a question that needs to be decided for generations: Do we take care of our children first or do we also take care of the children of Maalot, of Eilat. And for this we need to be Urim and Tomi. And so I'm not ruling it out, I'm not saying, what do I have to say? This is a layman's mind.

""I know what we suffered with the Likud, we know how there were opinionless MKs who didn't understand that everything the left is doing to us is to get us off Netanyahu? They go and join them and say, 'Yes, yes, yes, conscription.'".

""What is conscription? They're confusing people, what does it have to do with anything? But they don't understand. I said, back in the days when we had it easier with them, they're not built for power, they don't understand what power is at all. On the left, they're willing to sell the country for power, won't they sell us? Won't they give us conscription?"

The question of whether we are allowed, we are not allowed, the question of what direction, is a question for generations. It is a question that requires Urim and Tomin on, it is not me.

Question: Will the public know about this before they go to vote?

Someone answers: The public has already understood the answer.

Gafni: No, no, no! No, I'm talking to the greats of the generation, it's not simple at all. Whoever comes to us with the claims 'we should go with the left' we know that... (Someone says: They also say you're from the left, the Likud also knocked us out, so Netanyahu, what happened?)

Gafni: We'll think about it.

[1
379,6209,1126
post-1062529","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-1","tag-379","tag-6209","tag-1126
