The 16-year-old terrorist who stabbed and moderately wounded Elhanan Hanania this morning (Sunday) was captured after a chase by IDF forces.

An IDF spokesman said: "The suspect's arrest was made possible through intelligence guidance and IDF and Shin Bet measures that were used as part of the hunt. The security forces will continue to close the loop and act against any terrorist who harms or attempts to harm the citizens of the State of Israel and IDF forces.".

The terrorist was transferred to the security forces for further investigation.

Hananiah, a 24-year-old man, was on his way with his family to celebrate his wedding anniversary on vacation in the city of Tiberias.

The terrorist ambushed him near a store in a shopping complex near the village of Oja as he was returning to his car, where his wife, two daughters, and father-in-law were waiting for him - he attacked him from behind and stabbed him five times.

The terrorist fled the scene.

Elhanan's two brothers, Yosef and Shlomo, told Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem that Elhanan took time off from the base to go on vacation: "They stopped to buy cigarettes and when he got back to the car, the terrorist who had ambushed him was there. When he saw my brother turn his back on him, he jumped on him and stabbed him three times in the shoulder and twice in the back. He struggled with him. He was panicking about the children. His wife also screamed. His father-in-law, who was in the car, got out and the terrorist ran away. The older daughter saw everything that happened.

""He now has a broken shoulder and internal bleeding. We're trying to fix it. He's in a lot of pain and it's hard for him to speak. He can't say what he wants.".

The attack was recorded on a security camera, and the video shows the terrorist attacking Hanania from behind and stabbing him.

The IDF launched a manhunt that included a pursuit in the village of Oja, Jericho, and other settlements in the area - and eight hours after the attack, the terrorist was located, arrested, and taken for questioning.

[24
66415,1203,13600,9013
post-1062319","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-24","tag-66415","tag-1203","tag-13600","tag-9013
