Moti Babchik gave a special interview to Oder Harosh on Channel 14, during which he rejected the nicknames that were attached to him, such as the 'strong man' in Gur, addressed the deep crisis of trust that has arisen with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in light of the draft law - and who Agudat Israel will support after the elections.

""The general public doesn't understand us," said Babchik. "We don't want to change anything, we just want to protect ourselves.".

The interview focused on harsh and pointed criticism of the prime minister. Babchik, who was among the factors that worked over the years to establish and strengthen the right-wing bloc, openly declares that he is deeply hurt by Netanyahu.

He said that the Haredi public has experienced a severe erosion of trust following a series of unfulfilled promises regarding the regulation of the status of yeshiva students. He included the example of a conference call in which Netanyahu pledged to pass the conscription law within ten days, a commitment that has not been fulfilled even after years. "They stretched out the time and realized that it will not happen. This is the only thing that is important to us, and we will sit with whoever will give it.".

Alongside the criticism, Babchik wants to make it clear that the Haredi public remains right-wing and connected to the Land of Israel, and firmly rejects claims of joining the left or political ties with Naftali Bennett and Gadi Eisenkot. "We are right-wing, but we are terribly hurt by the situation created by this government.".

He emphasized that the Haredim are not automatically bound to any political bloc, and that any future decision will be made solely by the Council of Torah Sages. "If Eisenkot gives us a draft law like we want - we will ask the Council of Torah Sages and do what it says. I estimate that it will agree.".

[1
10965
post-1062241","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-1","tag-10965
