Segal explains that Ben Gvir is nevertheless seen as someone who will address the problem that arose during his tenure because of one issue where Ben Gvir puts everyone in his small pocket and leaves all his competitors in the dust: marketing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Segal, "Our great friends in the right-wing parties around the world have difficulty understanding why Israel gave such a person the keys to its government at such a time. There is no Jewish community I have visited in the US, no matter how Orthodox and right-wing, that does not hear the difficulty in defending the Israeli government of which Ben-Gvir is a member, and quotes that have made it all the way from his X-Files account to the other side of the ocean.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a solution to the problem, Segal calls for lifting the boycott of Netanyahu among the opposition: "Here is the answer - we have come this far because of the boycott of Netanyahu. The center-left's willingness to lean on the Arabs led Netanyahu from disqualifying the Kahanist party to coordinating moves with it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\""Initially, its alliance with other right-wing parties, then a willingness to lean on it in a coalition, and finally a joint meeting in the cabinet. The Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir<\/strong>, responded in a post he published. "I read Amit Segal's column, and it hit me like a punch in the stomach," he wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\""I felt deep pain. Internal. Pain that is much greater than the anger at the distortion of facts, the concealment of the revolutions and historical achievements (!) that I signed for in a single term - both in the ministry I head, and also in the influence on the various fronts, things that Amit Segal is well aware of.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This pain is about the feeling I have been experiencing for years. Religious Zionism is a charming sector, the closest to perfect. It contributes and is dedicated to the people of Israel and the Land of Israel in a heroic way. And yet, there is a small part of it that sees itself above everyone else. Those who see themselves as an 'elite', those who will always look at you as a repentant, an Easterner. They will belittle, belittle, and most of all - be arrogant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I don't need a report card from Mr. Segal. And yet, he hit me right in the heart. For so many years I've been experiencing this - the arrogance, the look down on me, this message - that they always know everything and are never wrong, and you always don't understand, and everything you've done - is never good. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
My pain is not for the lies, not for the ignoring of my crazy actions, not for the thanksgiving for everything I did, it is pain for the constant, condescending, arrogant, lordly disdain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Amit Segal knows full well that what he wrote is a lie, that my achievements, the revolutions, and the reforms are unprecedented by any standard, he's just incapable of flattering Ben Gvir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If I list here what I did in one term, this post will not end in the coming days, so I will only list the main ones:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 The reform of the terrorists in prison and the end of the summer camps. I ended the celebration with an iron fist, just as I promised in the previous elections. This is a reform that the head of the Shin Bet told me about, "The terrorists are afraid to go to the prison of the gentile Ben Gvir," the result is a decrease of more than 75% in attacks!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 I distributed 300,000 weapons. We are in the Middle East, and Jews need to have the strength to defend themselves. It's not just that in every attack, the terrorist is eliminated within seconds. We are armed, strong, capable of defending ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 I established over 1,000 police standby squads, with over 14,000 trained and equipped fighters. Do you understand what that means? This is another (!) division that protects the State of Israel. If it had existed on October 7, our situation would have been completely different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 The Negev - where for years people have been crying about the Bedouin taking over state lands, I have demolished 10,000 homes there in just the last year and a half. When Bennett was in power, he abolished enforcement in the Negev. I am doing what has not been done here for decades, I have returned huge areas to the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 I revolutionized the Israel Police, stopped the trend of police resignations, increased salaries, recruited over 4,000 new police officers, established the National Guard, and even the number of police cars doubled during my term - from about 5,000 to almost 10,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Vehicle thefts: This year we are already down by about 25%, last year there was a decrease of 19%, and the year before that there was also a decrease. Just for comparison: in Israel today, a third of the vehicles that were stolen here in 2006 (by 20 years), when the number of vehicles doubled during that time. Good word?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 There have also been achievements in the area of \u200b\u200bArab crime. Data from the Southern District of the Israel Police show a decrease of tens of percent in all areas of crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Also on the subject of protection, my work is great - in the last term, police activity against criminals increased by hundreds of percent. Several new protection divisions were opened, there is a hundred percent increase in enforcement actions, arrests, confiscation of property and indictments. Go down to the field, Amit, talk to the police, you will hear from them directly - the state did not have such significant and strong governance actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All of this is done while the Attorney General ties the police's hands and deprives them of technological tools to fight crime, until they get what they want - the same tools to fight against elected officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 More? Recruitment of Haredim. From all the talk and threats, I took action. I increased the recruitment of Haredim into the police by hundreds of percent, I opened Haredi units in the Border Guard, 1,400 Haredim enlisted in the Israel Police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I could go on and on endlessly describing the areas I first touched upon after years that everyone was afraid of, from the polygamy sections that we opened, to the fines for the noisy mosques that everyone was afraid to mess with, but the idea is the same: I did in one term what no one in the state dared to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ask your brother Arnon about the upheaval on the Temple Mount. He who controls the Mount controls the land, and well - I caused an upheaval there too, I fought racism against Jews in the holiest place for the Jewish people. Maybe he'll slip you a kind word here?!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Amit Segal also knows very well my security achievements in the government, or at least some of them. He knows that my veto and threat to resign from the government prevented the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon from being signed just before the day before Nasrallah's assassination, when Radwan's forces were sitting on the fences. Instead, we went for the assassination of Nasrallah (with the opposition of Smotrich, whom Segal praises all day), the Beeper Operation, the occupation of the security strip, and so on and so forth. These are just a few examples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If Amit Segal were honest, he would mention, for example, that before October 7, there was only one party in the government that warned about the concept and the danger from Gaza. That was Otzma Yehudit. In the weeks and months before the war, I warned from every platform, boycotted Knesset meetings and went down to hold a faction meeting in Sderot in protest of the containment policy towards Gaza. I declared that we were turning a blind eye to the danger, but of course the Segals mocked me. Because they, and only they, know everything, best of all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By the way, speaking of Segal's claim that everywhere he went in the US they spoke against me - it's a shame he didn't join me on my visit to the US, what crazy sympathy - to remind you of how they spoke in those communities you visited about the settlement enterprise in Judea and Samaria, even today they claim that the "settlements" are an international attack on Israel. So you, a native of Ofra, are suddenly echoing them?!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So why is Segal now attacking me? There is a purpose to it: it is the opening shot of a campaign designed to form a unity government without Ben-Gvir. The purpose is to keep me out of the next government. Amit Segal's column is the opening shot in this campaign, designed to say that Ben-Gvir is illegitimate, and thus enable the formation of a unity government with Eisenkot, who disqualifies me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
