Hundreds of people accompanied to the funeral of Maj. Gen. (res.) Benyahu Melat, 32, who was murdered in a terrorist attack near Havat Gilad after he went out to rescue groups of hikers who were attacked by Palestinian rioters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among the mourners at the cemetery at Havat Gilad were Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, Minister of Settlement Orit Struck, Minister of the Negev, Galilee and National Resilience Yitzhak Vasarloff, Minister of Diaspora Amichai Shikli, Minister Ze'ev Elkin, MK Amit Halevi, MK Limor Son Har Melech, and Head of the Samaria Regional Council Yossi Dagan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Benyahu Y.D., a resident of Havat Gilad, an active reserve soldier, a member of the settlement's readiness squad and responsible for agriculture on the farm, was murdered in the severe shooting attack near Havat Gilad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He left behind his wife Esther and two daughters, ages 12 and 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Benayahu was known as a central figure on the Gilad farm, a farmer, a member of the emergency squad, the head of agriculture in the community, and someone who worked dedicatedly for the security of the community. His family and friends say that he was always the first to report for any mission, and so was the case in the attack in which he was murdered, when he bravely jumped to save a life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The mother of Benayahu the fourteenth, Sugula Cement,<\/strong> Eulogy: "Benyahu is a saint. They talked here about his work for the Land of Israel, and Esther's father mentioned his enormous giving. So I want to say that there are other sides to Benyahu, that in everything he did in his life, he did them very seriously. We saw this when he was little, in helping at home, in doing things, in everything. And I remember when Esther and Benyahu were before the wedding, and he studied before the wedding with the rabbi of our settlement in Shvot Rachel, and Rabbi Bentzi said to me: Listen, I have never seen anything like this in my life, a groom. After I taught him everything, he told me, I ask you to give me a test, to see that I understood everything accurately. So his seriousness was in all kinds of directions. That's one thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is not the first time that Benyahu has been shot. When he was in first grade, we were at the Adi Ad building. Arabs were already shooting at him, and all the bullets flew over his head and he came and said: Arabs shot at me. So this boy from a young age was suckled by the wars of God. It is not for nothing that he is called Benyahu. Benyahu is a combination, both of the wars of God physically and of holiness and Torah study. This is the combination of Benyahu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And I want, in addition to all the things that there is much to say about Benaiah, I want to say one more thing: I cry out to Hashem, that He may send us Elijah the prophet, that He may turn hearts to children and the hearts of children to their fathers, so that with the help of Hashem we may also merit to complete this aspect of this whole story of the Land of Israel and the people of Israel and the redemption of Israel.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n Boaz Malt,<\/strong> His father, eulogized: "Benyahu, Benyahu, my dear friend. We had nothing but good things with you all these years. A beloved son, a lover, a lover of the land, a lover of the city of our ancestors. You and Esther, your whole life was devoted, sacrificed, for the sake of the people of Israel. You jumped at everything and every mitzvah that was required. You volunteered for many years for all the activities of what is called 'civil intelligence', of the struggle for every dunam, of the Temple Mount, of the hills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \""I used to, years ago, brag about myself that no one knows Gush Shiloh and Regavi like I do. I think there is no one who is as knowledgeable about the region of the Samaria and Regavi Regional Council as you are. How dedicated you are, how invested you are. Truly an amazing combination of a person; also a lover of people, but also a man of truth, for whom peace did not lead you astray from truth, justice and honesty.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n \""I call on all members of the Knesset and ministers, all those who told us 'a government of the full right' - your term is still short. Your opportunity is now to seize the last moment, to dismantle the terrorist organization that everyone knows is a terrorist organization - the Palestinian Authority. It is an organization that all it engraves on its flag is the destruction of the State of Israel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \""We don't have to wait for the next Shemini Atzeret war to come upon us. We know that the danger here is very great, and we must act with full vigor today to dismantle this horrific terrorist organization.
