He said that while in the previous campaign the United Arab Emirates was the country that bore the brunt of the fire, this time it is Kuwait that is at the center of the attacks - alongside Bahrain, Jordan, and the Kurdistan Region in Iraq.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Case, Iran is acting forcefully against Kuwait for reasons that go beyond purely military considerations. He noted that unlike other Gulf states, Kuwait does not maintain secret channels of dialogue with the Revolutionary Guards and does not respond to their demands, which has led to the escalation of tensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Case presented the words of a Kuwaiti source close to the government, according to which one of the main points of contention is an event that occurred last May - when Kuwaiti authorities arrested a squad of Revolutionary Guard officers who tried to infiltrate the country by sea with the aim of carrying out terrorist acts, and since then Iran has been exerting heavy pressure for their release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
According to the same source, Kuwait's refusal to comply with the demand is one of the main reasons for the escalation of attacks against it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Iranian attacks are not only focused on military bases where American forces are stationed, but also on vital civilian infrastructure - power plants, desalination plants and oil facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Case notes that Kuwait's geographical location contributes to its vulnerability. The country is located near Iran and pro-Iranian Shiite militias operating in Iraq, which have also attacked it in recent months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, unlike some Gulf states, Kuwait does not benefit from a significant regional ally that provides it with a security envelope and political influence during times of crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Case, this is also compounded by Iranian interest in Kuwait's economic resources, which increases its importance for Tehran. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And so, all of these factors - the refusal to cooperate with the Revolutionary Guards, the arrest of Iranian officers, the geographical proximity, and the lack of strong regional support - have made Kuwait Iran's "cannon fodder" in the current round of fighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
