During one of the discussions held on the subject, Shin Bet head David Zini said: "The leak does not justify an Shin Bet investigation due to the number of people involved, the level of seriousness, and the chance of a solution.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The demand to investigate the information leak was forwarded from the Prime Minister's Office back in March, while Operation 'Harry's Roar' was underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zini chose to delay handling the issue because he believed that the case did not meet the criteria required to open an investigation into the leak of confidential information, a procedure that is carried out by the Shin Bet only about 7 to 8 times a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For many months, the head of the Shin Bet tried to shake off the demand to open the investigation in question. Ultimately, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who holds the legal authority to order such a step, left the decision to open an investigation to Zini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a result, about a week ago, the Shin Bet's legal advisor made it clear to Zini that in light of the Prime Minister's explicit demand, there was no escape from opening an investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
