The Tel Aviv Regional Labor Court rejected the lawsuit of commentator Yaakov Bardugo against the radio station Galei Tzahal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the lawsuit, Bardugo claimed that he was fired illegally, for political reasons, and through illegal discrimination. The ruling determined that Bardugo failed to prove his claims and that his lawsuit should be dismissed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The judges ruled that Bardugo was not fired, but chose to end his work at the station after it was decided to change the structure of the "Evening Schedule" program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was also determined that the station's management made it clear to him that he could continue to present the program "Thoughts Ltd." - and he was even offered additional broadcast slots, but he announced his departure live and did not return to the broadcast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The court also rejected the claim that the termination of the contract was due to political motives or the intervention of then-Defense Minister Benny Gantz. The ruling determined that no evidence was presented to support these claims, and that the changes made to the broadcast schedule were due to professional and editorial considerations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ruling also determined that no employee-employer relationship existed between Bardugo and Galei Tzahal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The court noted that in 2016, Bardugo was offered the opportunity to be accepted as a civilian employee of the IDF, but he rejected the offer and requested to continue providing his services through a company he owned, due, among other things, to his other occupations and the restrictions that apply to civil servants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In light of the findings, the court rejected all components of the claim, which included a demand for recognition of employment relationships, compensation for unlawful dismissal, compensation for discrimination, and additional payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bardugo was ordered to pay legal costs and attorney fees in the amount of NIS 50,000.
