Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the upcoming elections and the future coalition map at a press conference this evening (Saturday night). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, his goal is to establish a broad national government that will operate on the basis of consensus and not within the framework of a narrow government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Netanyahu addressed the political crisis surrounding the conscription law and attacked those who, he said, are trying to exploit the situation to break up the coalition: "I think there are forces within us that want to cause a rift in the people. They want to aggravate and deepen misunderstandings and disagreements, and I think this is a terrible mistake. We should make every attempt to solve the problems within us by consensus.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added: "We have enemies outside and I say - there will be no civil war here. I intend to establish a broad national government, not a narrow government, but a broad national government, because only in this way do I think we can reach agreements among ourselves.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Netanyahu emphasized: "This means enough with the boycotts and I am not boycotting anyone. Everyone can join, you just have to agree to the basic principles.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the Prime Minister presented a clear outline regarding the obligation to serve and study: "If you heard in Europe that the police were arresting yeshiva students and putting them in prison, you would be shocked. The arrests of young men studying Torah only harm conscription. Those who do not study Torah do have to serve. As far as I am concerned, all possible sanctions will be applied to anyone who does not study Torah.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Prime Minister also referred to the greatest technological threat of the past year \u2013 drones and explosive drones, which were only recently used by the Iranians in an attack on the Strait of Hormuz, as well as by Hezbollah to harm soldiers and Israel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Netanyahu promised an Israeli revolution in the field: "We still have a lot to do in the field of explosive drones. We will be the first in the world to lead this issue technologically and operationally.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, Netanyahu expressed full confidence that the regional upheaval will ultimately lead to the collapse of the ayatollah regime in Iran. "The regime in Tehran will fall, it will happen. We are already seeing significant demonstrations inside Iran today.". <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regarding the agreement between the US and Iran, the Prime Minister emphasized that it "stands for the important interests of the State of Israel, the US understands this." He noted that a delegation will be sent to Washington in order to clarify Israel's red lines to the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar welcomed Netanyahu's remarks and said he supports the move, which he said "reflects the direction needed for the country.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sa'ar added: "After October 7, 2023, there is no longer any room for the politics of boycotts and disqualifications. Israel will also be in the coming years in the struggle for its existence and future. A broad national government is - therefore - a clear national interest.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ben Gvir, on the other hand, attacked: "The Prime Minister's statement this evening that he 'intends to form a broad government' is very disturbing. The previous governments to which Netanyahu added left-wing players exceeded our expectations of Livni as Minister of Justice, Benny Gantz as Minister of Defense, and paralyzed the ability to promote a determined right-wing policy.
