Defense Minister Yisrael Katz declared today (Monday) that Israel will not withdraw from the security zones held by the IDF in Lebanon, Syria and the Gaza Strip - and that the forces will remain there indefinitely, for the purpose of protecting the country's borders and its communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Katz wrote: "Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and I are leading a clear policy that determines that the IDF will remain in the security zones in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza - indefinitely - in order to defend the Israeli border and communities from there against jihadist elements.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, the areas held by the IDF will be free of local residents, and all terrorist infrastructure will be destroyed. "The area will be free of local residents and all terrorist infrastructure, above and below ground - including the houses in the contact villages that were used as terrorist outposts - will be destroyed.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Katz emphasized: "This is the main lesson from the events of October 7. The seizure of territory and security zones is one of the IDF's greatest achievements in the War of Rebirth under the decisions and direction of the political echelon.". <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Defense Minister also addressed the international pressures being exerted on Israel: "Therefore, we oppose the IDF's withdrawal from Lebanon - despite all the existing and future pressures.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
