The State Attorney's Office filed a first-of-its-kind civil lawsuit in court today (Sunday), in the amount of approximately one and a half million shekels, against three nursing service companies, for the damages they caused when they distributed flyers and advertising stickers on the grounds of government hospitals across the country.

The letter of claim filed by the Civil Enforcement Unit at the State Attorney's Office on behalf of the Ministry of Health indicates that in recent years, a widespread phenomenon of distributing advertising flyers by private nursing companies in government medical centers in central Israel - including Sheba Hospital, Ichilov, Wolfson and Assaf Harofeh - has become widespread.

The flyer distributors, who operate on behalf of nursing homes, paste and scatter the advertisements in the treatment departments, on hospital property, and do not even hesitate to enter patient rooms where patients are in order to distribute advertising flyers or paste stickers in the room, all while seriously violating privacy.

In some cases, the wardens sometimes enter the rooms of patients who are in isolation and cannot respond to a stranger entering their room, while falsely presenting that it is a visitor to the patient or a hospital employee.

In the lawsuit filed with the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court, through attorney Ina Stein, the state stated that the nursing home representatives "use threats and verbal and physical violence and endanger the medical and security teams of the government medical centers, interfere with the work of the medical team and insult public employees, vandalize and damage state property, harass patients and their companions and violate their privacy, create a false representation of authorized employees, cause heavy costs to the state and expend considerable resources in dealing with the nuisance of distributing advertising flyers, including due to the allocation of security personnel and filing complaints with the police, as well as due to the need to clean and repair the hospital property that was vandalized.".

The Attorney General's Office added that despite the hospitals' efforts to eradicate the phenomenon with the help of medical teams, security officers, and farm workers, the phenomenon continues to exist and not only consumes many resources but also puts the medical team and security officers in confrontations with those distributing the advertising leaflets, for which dozens of complaints have been filed with the police.

The lawsuit, totaling 1,402,535 shekels, is based on affidavits submitted by hospital representatives, which include a quantification of costs due to the need for additional cleaning hours to collect leaflets, scrape off stickers, and even replace equipment.

The Civil Enforcement Unit at the State Attorney's Office stated: "The purpose of this lawsuit is to prevent flyer distributors from continuing their illegal activities and to compensate the state for the resources that have been and are still being invested in order to reduce the damage caused by flyer distributors' actions to the public who come to hospitals and to medical teams and others.".

[4
65347,65348
post-1053249","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-4","tag-65347","tag-65348
