The Nof HaGalil City Rabbinate Election Committee announced today (Tuesday), after the vote count, the election of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Nachshon to the position of Nof HaGalil City Rabbi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The elections committee was headed by retired High Court member, Dayan Rabbi Yaakov Zamir. The other committee members were: Rabbi Yosef Toledano, Rabbi of Kiryat Bialik, Ofer Ben Eliezer, Israela Marxmer, Michal Shemesh. Committee Secretary: Zuriel Porat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the vote count was completed, the election committee published the official results: Rabbi Nachshon received the support of 29 members of the electorate - and will assume his position as the city's chief rabbi. Rabbi Menachem Herzl received 6 of the votes and Rabbi Bossi only one vote. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The elected rabbi is expected to lead religious services in the city and provide a spiritual and halachic response to all communities and sectors in the Galilee region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rabbi Nachshon, a resident of Nof HaGalil, serves as the head of the local Chabad yeshiva. He holds the qualification for city rabbi from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. He is a graduate of the Tomchei Temimim Yeshiva in Migdal HaEmek and the Tomchei Temimim Central Yeshiva in New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This appointment is part of the Ministry of Religious Services' policy to lead the permanent appointments of city rabbis in Israel, recognizing the importance of stable, permanent, and accessible Torah leadership for all city residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Director General of the Ministry of Religious Services, Yehuda Avidan, congratulated the selection: "We congratulate the completion of an orderly and professional selection process. I thank the chairman of the committee, Rabbi Zamir, and the members of the committee for their thorough work. I thank Ronen Plot, Mayor of Nof HaGalil, for his cooperation in the selection process.
