As part of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security's policy to strengthen local production and ensure the continued activity of the olive oil industry in Israel, the ministry will provide direct support in the amount of approximately 30 million shekels to olive oil growers in 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The move is a continuation of an agreement signed in 2023 between the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the Ministry of Finance, in which the customs duty on olive oil imports was reduced and at the same time a direct support mechanism was established for growers in order to maintain local production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The direct support is intended to strengthen the viability of growing in the industry, preserve the agricultural knowledge and experience accumulated over the years, and enable the continued production of high-quality Israeli olive oil even in changing market conditions and competition from imports. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Support will be provided to growers according to the extent of the productive olive groves they own, and according to the growing technologies: rainfed, irrigated, or combined, along with additional criteria. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The move is part of the ministry's policy to increase local production, as part of the overall effort to maintain the State of Israel's food security, with an emphasis on basic products in the Israeli diet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
