The National Fraud Investigation Unit (NFIU) at Lahav 433 has concluded an investigation into suspicions of committing serious offenses of bribery, election bribery, fraud and breach of trust, against former Acre Mayor Amichai Ben-Chelush, Deputy Mayor Itamar Sonino and a large number of other suspects - each according to his part.
As part of the covert and overt investigation by the AIA, findings led to suspicion that, near the local elections for the mayor of Acre on February 27, 2024, Amichai Ben-Chelush, along with others, acted to transfer a payment to voters, so that they would vote for him.
It is also suspected that Amichai gave favors, promised public jobs, and promised jobs and various benefits to associates - all in exchange for assistance in recruiting supporters in the elections.
The investigation file, which was accompanied from the beginning by the Haifa District Attorney's Office, was transferred today (Monday) for review and decision by the Attorney's Office.
