A new documentary about the drama of Fly Dubai Flight 1073 is currently in production for Kan 11 and Kan BOX, and will focus on the story of the Israelis who were on the plane.
The film will be produced by documentary filmmaker and director Eyal Detz, who was himself among the passengers on the flight. Detz boarded the plane en route to Israel with his 75-year-old father, Yaakov, and experienced the dramatic events firsthand.
Flydubai Flight 1073 is much more than just another story of an aviation disaster that was averted. It is the story of 174 Israelis from diverse backgrounds who, at one point, shared a common fate and a single mission: to stay alive.
A few days after the dramatic landing in Israel, Datz set out on a journey to the Israelis who were there with him, during the long and turbulent moments of their lives - to understand who they were, what they went through when the plane was moments away from crashing, and what failure led to this?
The new testimonies of the passengers, alongside documentary video materials and videos filmed in real time on the plane and in Saudi Arabia and not published until today, tell the dramatic story of the flight.
Eyal Detz is a director and documentary maker.
Among other things, he directed the films "Something Spicy," "Ten Days in October," and "I'll Hide My Face," and produced the films "Cult" and "Tomorrow Has Already Gone," which participated in festivals in Israel and around the world.
Production: Beyond Creative, Yoav Leshem.
