Yisrael Beiteinu Chairman Avigdor Lieberman said on the Besheva website podcast that he supports introducing Jordanian legions to control Judea and Samaria.
"Regarding Areas A and B, you need to find someone to manage them," said the Yisrael Beiteinu chairman. "The Palestinian Authority is bankrupt, and you must reach an understanding with the Jordanians here. That they will manage Areas A and B, take security and administrative responsibility. You don't have a vacuum.".
After being asked: "Do you trust them to bring a Jordanian army into western Israel?" - Lieberman replied: "Look, they have no choice, I don't know if they will bring in their own army, or if they will establish battalions here under Jordanian command. But in the end, the Palestinian issue is much more critical for Jordan than for the State of Israel. It is much more critical there - the Palestinians are already 80% of the population, and the entire Hashemite dynasty with all the clans are perhaps 20% of the population.".
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich wrote in response: "Listen to Lieberman: Someone who presents himself as a right-winger suggests that we give up our security responsibility in Judea and Samaria and transfer it to the Jordanians! To the Jordanians! Lieberman wants to return Israel to the days of the Jordanian Legion. This must not be allowed to happen.".
Netanyahu responded in a tweet on the X network: "Lieberman, I knew you were on the left since you formed a government with Mansour Abbas. I know you are on the left because you will form a government with Eisenkot, Yair Golan, Bennett and the Arab parties. But I did not believe that you would propose today that the Jordanian army control the territories of the Land of Israel. Repent immediately!""
Diaspora Minister Amichai Shikli wrote: "This statement by Lieberman is a hallucination from the land of hallucinations. A Jordanian army in the mountains of Judea and Samaria is one of the most depraved and dangerous ideas imaginable.".
