A 66-year-old city resident, who was on his way to perform morning prayers at the synagogue, was attacked and stabbed in the body. He was taken to HaEmek Hospital for medical treatment in serious condition.

Immediately upon receiving the report, large police forces were called to the scene, accompanied by forensic investigators.

The forces operated at the scene, collected findings and evidence, and carried out a variety of investigative actions in order to trace the identity of the attacker. In the first stage, the background to the attack was unclear, and investigators worked to locate the suspect, while examining all avenues of investigation.

Two days after the incident, the police were able to locate the suspect and arrest him - a 39-year-old resident of Afula.

His detention was extended from time to time, and at the same time, the Northern District investigators continued their investigative activities to collect and establish the evidentiary infrastructure against him.

Today (Thursday), upon completion of the investigation, the Northern District Attorney's Office, through Attorney Noy Shitrit, filed an indictment against the suspect in the Nof HaGalil court, charging him with aggravated sabotage and obstruction of justice.
