The IDF and Shin Bet announced this evening (Tuesday), in a joint statement, that they attacked in the southern Gaza Strip and killed the terrorist Na'al Abu Abid, commander of the Rafah Brigade and head of the operations division in the military wing of the Hamas terrorist organization.
Abu Abid, one of the senior figures in Hamas' military establishment in the southern Gaza Strip, was appointed to his position after the assassination of Muhammad Shabana.
Previously, he held a number of positions in the brigade, including: deputy commander of the Rafah Brigade and commander of the Tel Sultan and Yavna Battalion. Abu Abid was a central figure among Hamas' senior figures.
""As part of his role, Abu Abid was responsible for managing the activities of the brigade's terrorists and directing them to promote and execute terrorist plots against IDF forces and citizens of the State of Israel. In addition, he acted with the aim of trying to restore the brigade's strength, which had suffered critical damage throughout the war," the statement said.
According to reports in the Gaza Strip, an attack in the al-Mawasi area in western Khan Yunis killed two people and wounded 14 others.
Reports claim that two nearby tents, near the gate of the a-Sumoud camp, were attacked first by a suicide drone and then by two missiles fired from aircraft at the location.
The Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense earlier issued a statement confirming that the target of the attack was the Rafah Brigade of the terrorist organization.
The joint statement said: "The IDF has now attacked the commander of the Rafah Brigade in the Hamas terrorist organization, after the commander of the Khan Yunis Brigade and other senior figures in the organization were eliminated earlier this week.".
""Our message is clear: no terrorist is immune and Hamas will not be in Gaza. We are strengthening the IDF and the Shin Bet, which are working resolutely to eliminate threats and protect Israeli citizens.".
The Defense Minister added: "The policy that the Prime Minister and I are leading, and that the IDF is implementing in the most professional and appropriate manner, is clear: we eliminate terrorists and remove threats and do not attack civilians and uninvolved people - and this is in contrast to the blood libel that the creators of the film "Naza" spread about our heroic soldiers.".
Ofer Winter responded: "3 years of war, 5 divisions that fought in Gaza, and there's still a brigade headquarters for Rafah?""
