IDF forces attacked the Khan Yunis area on Monday and killed terrorist Ismail Ibrahim Darwish Qandil, a Nukhaba terrorist in the military wing of the Hamas terrorist organization.
According to an IDF statement, the terrorist participated in the October 7 massacre and took part in the killing of the Nahal Brigade Commander, Col. Yehonatan Steinberg.
The defense establishment notes: "Recently, the terrorist has promoted terrorist plots against IDF forces and citizens of the State of Israel and worked to restore the organization's capabilities, while systematically violating the ceasefire.".

Steinberg was killed in a clash with terrorists in October. A few months after his fall, his personal weapon was found during an IDF operation in Khan Yunis.
He participated in the fight against Palestinian terrorism in the Second Intifada. He later served as a company officer of the Nahal Brigade, after which he was appointed head of the Ground Forces Commander's Office.
In 2019, he was promoted to the rank of Colonel and appointed commander of the Benjamin Brigade.
In 2022, he was appointed commander of the Tactical Training Center in the Israeli Defense Forces, a position he held until 2023, and was later appointed commander of the Nahal Brigade.
