Iris Haim, the mother of the kidnapped Yotam Haim, who was accidentally shot to death by IDF forces in Shajaiyah after escaping from Hamas captivity, filed a lawsuit in court for approximately 170,000 shekels against the ultra-Orthodox publicist Dov Halbertal - following a defamatory post he published against her on Facebook in May.

Want to hold a 'captive redemption' in the most elegant way? Only with 'Yad L'Achim' • Mekdem

Among other things, Halbertal wrote in the post: "... Iris Haim, who is about to receive a Likud armor. This woman, the one who is obsessed with honor and publicity, who has only shone since her son's murder. It is assumed that she planned her entire path to politics in advance and is treading on the blood of her son, who was ordered to become a world celebrity. On her son's grave, she will write 'How good that he was murdered.' What a kindness Hamas did to her.".

In response to the publication, Haim chose to respond in a public post and refuted his claims. "No one has contacted me, not from the Likud or any list or party, and even if they did, the answer would be negative. The main thing is to write bad and repulsive things about me without even checking.".

The lawsuit stated that Haim had unwillingly transformed herself into someone who sought to bring unity to the people of Israel.

Her lawyers emphasize that the things written by Halbertal were not an accidental act out of anger, but a conscious activity to harm her and tarnish her name.

Yotam Haim was kidnapped from the youth neighborhood in Kfar Aza on October 7, 2023. He survived in captivity for 65 days, and was accidentally killed by IDF fire on December 15, 2023 during his escape from his captors.
