After holding talks with Benny Gantz: Ayelet Shaked announced today (Sunday) that she has decided not to run in the upcoming elections for the 26th Knesset.
At the same time, she is expected to join the Likud and aim to run on the party's list in the future.
The move is intended to allow Shaked to accumulate the required seniority as a Likud member. Once she meets the seniority requirement, she is expected to attempt to run on the party's list in the next elections.
Shaked, who headed the Jewish Home list in the 2022 elections, which failed to pass the electoral threshold, was considered someone who might strengthen Gantz and appeal to audiences from the center and the moderate right, but in the end she decided to stay out of the race.
Now, after Shaked's decision not to join the list, it seems that Gantz is faced with a real dilemma on how to proceed - just before the final closing of the lists.
