And they call themselves "democrats"? An unusual proposal by former Prime Minister Ehud Barak in an interview on Channel 12 led to a public outcry.
In an interview, Barak presented an extreme outline for dealing with the threats of artificial intelligence, according to which the State of Israel should directly contact social media companies and order them to block and close major channels and platforms three days before the polls open.
""There is one option - to contact these companies and demand that they, on behalf of the State of Israel, close these channels in the last three days," Barak claimed.
During the interview, Barak addressed the technological challenges and concerns about the use of fake videos based on AI technology near the voting date.
Barak's critics responded by saying that moves to block digital platforms, black out channels, and prevent citizens from distributing content are unacceptable in countries with democratic regimes.
