President Donald Trump is not interested in returning to the original memorandum of understanding with Iran.

According to a report this evening (Thursday) in the Wall Street Journal, sources familiar with the details claim that the president made this clear to the mediators, while attempts are being made to examine the possibility of renewing the diplomatic channel with the regime in Tehran.

According to the report, Trump prefers to wait and see whether the policy of "economic isolation" that the United States is implementing on Iran will lead the regime to change its position and come to the talks with a softened stance.

White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly said: "There are no talks or discussions taking place, or planned, with the Islamic Republic of Iran.".

She emphasized that economic pressure on Iran continues at full force.

CNN reported that the United States has changed its strategy in the war: instead of trying to bring about a quick decision, the goal is to exert continuous pressure on the Iranian regime until it is forced to agree to American conditions.
